Harford Mutual Insurance Group has appointed Shane Crockett as vice president and chief underwriting officer.
Crockett, who has more than 15 years of experience in insurance underwriting, most recently served as senior director, underwriting and production, agriculture for Markel, a global specialty insurance provider. Prior to that, he held various roles at Liberty Mutual, including vice president, regional underwriting manager for the mid-Atlantic region.
In his new role, Crockett will supervise all of Harford’s underwriting business units, focusing on driving profitability and growth.
The company also promoted two other executives and announced the appointment of another director.
Bryan Yekstat, who joined the company in 2011, has been promoted to assistant vice president, claims, where he will be responsible for ensuring efficient claims handling and improving operational processes. He previously served as director of claims, workers’ compensation.
Matthew Summerell was also promoted to assistant vice president, business development. In this new role, he will lead the creation and execution of the company’s business development strategy.
Summerell joined the company in 2018 and most recently served as director of business development.
Meanwhile, Craig White has joined the company as director of information security. Prior to joining the company, he was assistant vice president of information security at Tower Federal Credit Union.
With more than 17 years of experience in information security and technology, White will be responsible for strengthening Harford’s safeguards for company systems to mitigate cybersecurity threats. He will also supervise the development and implementation of proactive security strategies.
The new appointments follow leadership changes the company made last year.
In September, the company promoted Pauline Bao to assistant vice president and chief actuary. Christopher D’Alessio was also promoted to assistant vice president of underwriting and Jillian Taylor was named assistant vice president of finance. Meanwhile, Denise Elias was appointed director of claims, auto and operations.
