Grange Insurance Company has announced the promotion of Mike Hickman (pictured) to vice president, national underwriting and business operations.
The move will see Hickman become part of the company’s commercial lines leadership team, responsible for improving operations and underwriting processes to support long-term growth.
He will also take charge of two key areas: national underwriting, which consist of specialty underwriting, small business underwriting, and staff technical underwriting consultants; and business operations, which covers risk control, premium audit, and other operational support services.
Hickman joined Grange in 2018 and most recently served as assistant vice president of commercial underwriting services. He was in charge of streamlining underwriting services, as well as leading the small business, underwriting consultants, risk control, premium audit and operations functions within commercial lines.
John North, Grange Insurance president, commercial lines, said Hickman’s promotion is part of the company’s focus on “forward-thinking innovation and outstanding leadership.”
“Mike’s proven track record and strategic approach make him the ideal leader as we continue prioritizing profitable growth and delivering results for our agency partners,” North said in a press release.
Before his time at Grange, Hickman held various leadership roles at Nationwide, focusing on commercial underwriting, product development, and middle-market business initiatives. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Liberty University.
Last November, Grange appointed Nicole Carter as vice president, PL sales and strategic distribution. Carter took on the expanded role after leading the company’s strategic distribution roadmap” for over two years.
