Global brokerage Gallagher has announced that it has acquired Brooklyn-based Aloia McKinnon Insurance Brokerage.
Aloia McKinnon, founded in 1947, is a general insurance agency focusing on small businesses and individuals. It serves clients in Brooklyn and the wider Tri-State area.
As part of the acquisition, Dean Aloia, Tom Aloia and the Aloia-McKinnon team will join the Gallagher Agency Alliance, a merger and acquisitions model focusing on agencies that specialize in small business P&C insurance and employee benefits. They will report to Jen Tadin, managing director of Gallagher’s global small business practice.
“With its strong reputation as a neighborhood broker, Aloia McKinnon is an ideal fit for the Gallagher Agency Alliance’s small business strategic focus,” Tadin said. “By joining Gallagher Agency Alliance, Dean, Tom and their team can continue to focus on what they do best while benefiting from Gallagher’s market reach and niche expertise. We look forward to working with their team to further expand their capabilities and provide insurance solutions to the local community.”
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Aloia McKinnon is the latest firm to join Gallagher. Earlier this week, the global broker announced that it had acquired San Diego-based Hartley Cylke Pacific Insurance. Earlier this month, Gallagher announced the acquisition of Ace Commercial Insurance Center, also based in California.
