Gallagher Bassett Specialty has announced the appointment of Doug Betkowski as senior vice president and transportation practice leader of the Major Case Unit (MCU), which focuses on severe, complex and high-exposure claims.
In his new role, Betkowski (pictured above) will be responsible for the growth of the MCU, talent recruitment and market relationships. He is based in Phoenix, Ariz. Betkowski succeeds Keith Dunlap, who has retired.
Betkowski has more than 35 years of experience in the insurance claims space. Before joining Gallagher Bassett, he served as corporate director of claims and litigation at Swift Transportation. In that role, he managed the oversight, processing and handling of all bodily injury and physical damage claims.

Betkowski is a member of the Transportation Industry Defense Association’s board of directors and is a current or former member of several of the association’s key committees. He also serves on the American Law Firm Association’s Client Advisory Board.
