Personal lines insurance distributor Freeway Insurance has announced the results of its annual Toys for Tots campaign, reporting record-breaking results for the year.
As a five-star corporate sponsor of the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation for its eighth year, the company said it collected 3,300 toys, provided $2.1 million in advertising support and generated more than $2,500 in online donations this year.
Freeway Insurance kicked off the annual campaign in November, encouraging its staff and customers to drop off donations of new, unwrapped toys at about 200 Freeway Insurance offices, including both corporate-owned and franchise locations. The campaign ran until Dec. 13.
Cesar Soriano, chief executive of Freeway Insurance, attributed the campaign’s success to the generosity of company staff and customers. “We are proud to celebrate our most successful Toys for Tots campaign to date,” he said. “Together, we’ve helped make the holidays brighter for children in underserved communities. Supporting Toys for Tots in their mission to bring joy and hope to families is an honor we cherish.”
Over the years, Freeway Insurance said it has collected and donated nearly 25,000 toys to the Toys for Tots Foundation.
Founded in 1947, the foundation has grown to become one of the most respected children’s charities in the US. It not only provides toys during this holiday campaign but it also supports children year-round through its Literacy Program, providing age-appropriate books to children in low-income communities.
“We have been working hard to deliver joy and hope to more than 10 million children this year,” said retired Marine Col. Ted Silvester, who is also vice president of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. “We are pleased to have the generous support of Freeway as a National Corporate Sponsor so that we can continue to fulfill holiday dreams for thousands of less fortunate children.”
