In his new role, Griek will oversee the organization’s financial concerns. He will report to FGI CEO Raul Vargas, Farmers said in a news release.
Griek has 20 years of industry experience. Prior to joining Farmers, he served in various leadership roles at Allstate, most recently as vice president of P&C finance operations.
“John has extensive knowledge in the finance discipline, a deep understanding of the insurance industry and market dynamics, as well as a demonstrated history of leading multi-year operational strategies,” Vargas said. “I am pleased to welcome John to the Farmers team and look forward to working together as we continue to execute on our strategic plans for achieving long-term, profitable growth for the Farmers enterprise.”
With Griek’s appointment, interim CFO Maïté Irakoze Baur will resume her role as FGI’s chief investment officer, the company said.
Farmers was recently named one of the top insurance brands in the country in a YouGov survey. Last year, the company joined other insurers in scaling back operations in catastrophe-prone states such as Florida and California.
