Erie Insurance has named Christine Lucas as regional vice-president of underwriting for the company’s west region, effective November 21, 2019.
Lucas succeeds David Freeman, who will retire at the end of November after serving Erie Insurance for 43 years.
She first joined Erie Insurance in 1991 as an underwriter, later advancing to other roles in management and leadership. Lucas most recently served as vice-president and commercial product manager.
Lucas is a graduate of Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. She has earned a number of insurance designations, including the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriting (CPCU), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Associate in Underwriting (AU).
A release mentioned that Lucas is a recognized expert of cyber insurance. She has served on a US Department of the Treasury committee, as well as an A.M. Best panel on the subject of cyber insurance.
“Christie brings to her new role deep experience in underwriting, products and Erie technology,” commented Erie Insurance senior vice-president of underwriting Marc Cipriani.
Cipriani added that, since 2011, Lucas has led efforts to cultivate Erie’s commercial multi-peril product line and improve the insurer’s agents’ ability to write commercial business.
