EPIC Insurance Brokers & Consultants has announced the appointment of Darren Renner as senior vice president of risk mitigation and claims. In his new role, Renner will oversee claims and risk mitigation in EPIC’s private-client and entertainment and sports practices. He will also oversee claims and risk mitigation services for EPIC Select, which provides insurance consultation services to advisory practices and their clients.
Renner holds a juris doctorate from the University of New Hampshire School of Law. For the past 25 years, he has engaged in high-exposure insurance litigation and mediation, and has engineered several complex settlements. In 2000, he joined and later became a partner at Lustig & Brown, an insurance defense law firm. While there, he focused on the defense of agents and brokers’ E&O liability claims and the defense and prosecution of insurance coverage lawsuits. In 2008, Renner joined Keidel, Weldon & Cunningham as a partner. There, he continued his insurance litigation and coverage analysis practice, while expanding to include general commercial litigation.
“We have no greater priority than alignment with our clients immediately after a loss. We are pleased to have an accomplished professional like Darren join EPIC and assume a leadership role in this critically important responsibility,” said Tim Brenneman, president of the EPIC Private Client Practice. “While post-claim advocacy will always be a major focus, it is also becoming increasingly clear that with the dramatic impact of climate change, simply responding after a loss will not be enough. Clients will expect and need insurance advisors to help identify exposure to loss before a claim occurs, and offer mitigation strategies to minimize those risks.”
