Cyber insurance provider Cowbell has announced new additions to its US and UK teams.
The company has named Claud Bilbao (pictured above left) as UK director of underwriting. In the US, Matt Byrne (pictured above right) has joined the company as vice president of tech errors & omissions underwriting.
Bilbao will report to Simon Hughes, general manager for UK operations, while Byrne will report to Caroline Thompson, senior vice president of underwriting, Cowbell said.
“We are dedicated to closing the insurability gap and making cyber insurance accessible to small- to medium-sized businesses around the world,” said Trent Cooksley, co-founder and chief operating officer of Cowbell.
“As seasoned underwriters with a wealth of experience across the cyber and technology insurance sector, Claud and Matt will help us deliver on this goal. They are valuable additions to our growing UK and US teams.”
Prior to joining Cowbell, Bilbao served as a senior underwriter at CNA where he was responsible for running the London specialty cyber and technology portfolios for both its company and Lloyd’s platforms. He has also served as a US technology and cyber underwriter at CFC Underwriting.
“I have seen first-hand how critical cyber insurance is for SMEs and large global enterprises,” Bilbao said. “I am eager to bring my experience working with companies internationally to support Cowbell’s growing UK team.”
Byrne has more than eight years of underwriting experience in cyber and professional lines at traditional carriers and managing general agents. He also has experience working on traditional property & casualty lines supporting larger programs. Byrne will be based in the San Francisco Bay Area and focus on retail and wholesale relationships throughout the US.
“I am thrilled to help the company continue innovating and delivering value to SMEs,” Byrne said. “I share Cowbell’s vision to close the SME insurability gap and am eager to use my skills to help drive Cowbell’s mission forward.”
Cowbell was recently recognized as a “hot” cyber insurance company by Cyber Defense Magazine. The company also recently opened a new technology center in Pune, India.
