CM Vantage Specialty Insurance has named industry veteran Michael York II as it new chief underwriting officer.

The new executive will oversee underwriting operations and work closely with the firm’s distribution partners. He reports directly to CM Vantage president Alan Ogilvie.

“Michael is a proven leader in the surplus lines insurance market and we are very pleased to have him join the CM Vantage team,” said Ogilvie.

York has been in the insurance industry for the past 24 years, with the last two as vice president for underwriting at Colony Specialty Insurance.

“I am extremely excited about the future. At CM Vantage, we have the underwriting expertise and the commitment to customer service necessary to help our wholesale broker partners grow and write profitable surplus lines property and casualty accounts. We are one of the few surplus lines companies with an unwavering commitment to the wholesale channel,” said York. “We continue to believe strong relationships with wholesalers and general agents are the key to our success and I will work diligently to continue that proven model.”
