Global law firm Clyde & Co has announced its merger with Dallas-based firm Tillman Batchelor LLP, further strengthening its North American and global insurance practice.
The merger brings Mark Tillman and Colin Batchelor to Clyde & Co’s Dallas office as partners, along with their six-member team.
Tillman Batchelor LLP has provided litigation and advisory services to domestic and international insurance carriers and other business entities across the United States. The firm specializes in first-party and bad-faith insurance litigation, as well as insurance coverage advice across various lines of business.
Carolena Gordon, Clyde & Co’s senior partner, emphasized the importance of the Texas market to the firm’s operations.
“Texas is an important market for our US and global insurance clients seeking coverage and defense services, and we are pleased to strengthen our team and southwest presence to better serve them. As our clients’ needs become more complex, this merger further reinforces our position as the leader in insurance coverage litigation in the US and globally,” Gordon said.
The Dallas addition aligns with Clyde & Co’s ongoing efforts to expand its geographic reach and capabilities in key US markets.
Tillman highlighted the alignment between the two firms, noting the long-standing relationship with Clyde & Co.
“Our clients in Dallas and beyond stand to benefit significantly, as does our entire team,” he said. “We will make the most of the national and global opportunities to grow and develop our practices and people.”
Eileen King Bower, partner and chair of Clyde & Co’s North American board, noted the addition of the Dallas team’s expertise.
“We are pleased to welcome our new Dallas colleagues to Clyde & Co. The group brings a strong record and reputation in trial and defense as well as insurance coverage disputes and a culture of client excellence that we value strongly.”
Clyde & Co’s North American insurance practice spans advisory and dispute resolution services across all insurance lines, serving established and emerging markets. The firm opened its first North American office in New York in 2006 and now operates 19 offices across the United States and Canada with over 400 attorneys, including more than 90 partners.
The merger with Tillman Batchelor LLP follows other recent expansions in the US, including the addition of partners Tom Maroney and Liz Evans in New York and Smita Mokshagundam and Danny Worker in Chicago.
