Brown & Riding has announced the appointment of Nick Calabro (pictured above) as senior vice president within the firm’s national casualty practice.

Calabro, who is based in Florida, brings more than 13 years of industry experience, with a focus on construction, real estate and hospitality sectors. Before joining Brown & Riding, Calabro held a casualty broker role at CRC Insurance Services from July 2011 to March 2025.

Calabro holds a bachelor of science in risk management and insurance from Florida State University’s College of Business, where he studied from 2007 to 2011.

Brown & Riding said that its national casualty practice has been a cornerstone of the firm's offerings, focusing on non-standard third-party bodily injury and property damage risks.

A recipient of Insurance Business America’s 5-Star Wholesale Broker and MGA award, Brown & Riding writes over $2.2 billion in annual premium.

Brown & Riding’s expansion

The company’s national casualty practice also saw important additions in recent years, including:

  • Justin Mansfield was appointed vice president and casualty broker, specializing in construction, real estate, and hospitality risks, enhancing the firm's presence in New York. Mansfield joined Brown & Riding in April 2024.
  • Shani Markus joined as senior vice president and casualty broker, bringing expertise in construction, products, and real estate sectors. Markus joined Brown & Riding in December 2022.

Outside of its national casualty practice, the company also recently welcomed Hayley Cassis as vice president and casualty broker specializing in construction. Cassis, who previously worked at the firm, has extensive experience in the construction sector.

In its national property practice, the company also announced that Michael Davis will join Chris Bading in leading the firm’s national property practice. Davis, who was named a principal in 2019, will help oversee strategic initiatives, talent development, and client service expansion.
