The board of directors of AssuredPartners has appointed Thomas E. Riley, current president and chief operating officer, as its newest chief executive officer.
Riley succeeds Jim Henderson, who will transition into the role of executive chairman effective January 01, 2021. Once the succession takes place, AssuredPartners expects to announce “certain” changes and promotions to the leadership team supporting the new CEO, a company release said.
Riley co-founded AssuredPartners with Henderson in 2011, in partnership with private equity firm GTCR. Prior to founding the company, he was previously the president and chief operating officer at Inception. Riley began his career as a certified public accountant with Arthur Young, later being recruited by Henderson to serve as CFO at Brown & Brown Insurance. At Brown & Brown, Riley was promoted to regional president and chief acquisitions officer.
It was under the leadership and guidance of both Henderson and Riley that AssuredPartners grew to over $1.6 billion in revenue in less than nine years, a company release said. Riley also developed and led operational improvement initiatives across multiple platforms, as well as recruiting an operational team responsible for the integration and growth of the more than 40 agencies that join the AssuredPartners family each year.
“Tom Riley is a proven leader in this industry who has consistently driven results through his financial and business acumen and passion for the people of this company,” said current AssuredPartners CEO Jim Henderson. “Few in this industry have deeper and more sustained relationships with carriers and other trading partners, and those relationships are indispensable to our continued success.”
“Since 2011, Jim Henderson’s leadership and vision have attracted the very best agencies and industry leaders to AssuredPartners,” said Riley. “The opportunity that lies ahead for this company is immense, and the charge of leading us into that opportunity is exciting and deeply humbling.”
Riley added that Henderson’s continued involvement as executive chairman will be critical for AssuredPartners – especially when it comes to the company’s acquisition strategy and working with financial partners.
