Assurant has appointed Barbara C. Bufkin to the newly created role of property and casualty growth and innovation leader and commercial lines business development executive. In the new role, Bufkin will be responsible for developing commercial lines growth strategies and creating and fostering strategic partnerships and new products.

Bufkin brings nearly four decades of insurance and reinsurance experience to her role at Assurant. Prior to joining the company, Bufkin held leadership roles at Argo International, Guy Carpenter & Company and Hamilton USA.

She has been recognized as the Association of Professional Insurance Women’s Insurance Woman of the Year, and is a recipient of the Inclusions Champion Award from the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation. Bufkin currently serves on the foundation’s national board of governors and as vice chair of the Griffith Educational Foundation.
