Specialty insurance and reinsurance provider Argo Surety recently announced the appointment of David M. Layman to an executive role especially created for him in the organization.
According to a company statement, Layman was appointed as vice president and chief underwriting officer.
The accounting graduate from the University of Florida will be primarily responsible for the firm’s contract surety portfolio, establishing guidelines and managing the firm’s underwriting talent pool. He will report to Joshua Betz, Argo Surety president.
“David is joining Argo Surety at the perfect time. He has an excellent track record…and his vision and entrepreneurial spirit will fit right into our culture…We are very excited to have David join us, and appreciate his long-term perspective on growing a portfolio,” Betz said in the statement.
Layman has three decades of industry experience under his belt with a specific focus on surety experience as well as agency involvement. He has served with other major industry players, such as
Swiss Re and Reliance Surety.
