The American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA) has released a statement following the results of the 2024 presidential election, congratulating President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect J.D. Vance on their victory. APCIA president and CEO David A. Sampson expressed hopes for unified national leadership that would tackle rising costs impacting Americans.
“Now is the time for national leadership that promotes unity and focuses on the business of governance to address rising costs impacting all Americans,” Sampson stated.
In the statement, Sampson acknowledged the economic strain affecting Americans, pointing to the role of inflation and legal challenges in driving up prices for goods, services, and insurance premiums. He noted that recent years have seen a marked increase in natural disasters, calling for a comprehensive strategy for disaster mitigation and resilience.
“Record natural disasters call for a holistic approach to mitigation and resilience,” he noted, stressing that addressing the effects of regulatory policies on economic growth and innovation—particularly in financial services and energy—remains a priority.
“APCIA looks forward to working with the Trump Administration, leaders in both parties and state and local officials on long-term solutions that will help lower costs and address these and other factors that impact insurance affordability and availability,” Sampson said.
Sampson also extended thanks to outgoing president Joe Biden and vice president Kamala Harris for their investments in infrastructure and wildfire resiliency. He noted that these efforts have contributed to strengthening the nation’s resilience against environmental risks.
APCIA, which represents insurers across the US, underscored its commitment to collaborating with federal, state, and local officials to address long-term solutions that could improve insurance affordability and availability. The association advocates for the competitive insurance marketplace and works on behalf of its members to provide coverage for families, businesses, and communities nationwide.
