Aon plc has named Magnus Roe as its global chief data and analytics officer, tasked with advancing the company’s capabilities in analytics and helping clients make data-informed decisions.
Roe (pictured) will be based in Singapore, which serves as Aon’s global hub for analytics.
He will report to Mindy Simon, Aon’s chief operating officer. He will also collaborate with key leaders, including Andy Marcell (CEO of risk capital) and Lambros Lambrou (CEO of human capital).
In his new position, Roe will lead efforts to integrate artificial intelligence, data strategy, and governance into the company’s analytics platform. He will also work closely with compliance teams to navigate regulatory complexities while ensuring data privacy across Aon’s operations.
Commenting on the appointment, Simon highlighted Roe’s strategic contributions to Aon’s analytics initiatives.
“Magnus brings extensive experience as the former head of strategy for risk analytics, where he showed remarkable leadership and vision for the firm, shaping the strategic path for reinsurance analytics and future capabilities for Commercial Risk Solutions,” she said.
Roe described the appointment as an opportunity to accelerate innovation within the company.
“I am thrilled to lead this exceptional team as we continue to innovate at scale, leveraging our global expertise and proprietary capabilities to advance how we serve clients and enable colleagues,” he said.
Roe previously served as Aon’s head of strategy for risk analytics and as global chief operating officer for reinsurance analytics. In these roles, he helped enhance the firm’s analytical tools and supported client-focused solutions.
Aon’s announcement of a new global chief data and analytics officer follows the appointment of Mona Barnes as its global chief claims officer, placing her in charge of the firm’s worldwide claims operations.
Barnes reports to Joe Peiser, CEO of Aon’s commercial risk division, and works with teams across regions to align claims services with client needs and industry demands.
Barnes joined Aon in 2023 and has since overseen claims operations in the UK and global broking centre. Prior to Aon, she led Swiss Re Group’s large-loss and key-case management team and served as vice president for overseas claims management at Chubb. She also serves on the advisory board of the RAND Institute for Civil Justice.
In her new role, Barnes focuses on enhancing claims outcomes and delivering efficient services to clients while fostering collaboration with insurers and other stakeholders.
