Amwins is expanding its specialty insurance capabilities through a partnership with Community Association Insurance Solutions (CAIS) and a restructuring of its global underwriting operations.
AM Best reported that the moves signal the company’s effort to enhance its market position in community association coverage while streamlining international operations to support future growth.
The agreement brings CAIS, a managing general agent (MGA) specializing in insurance for homeowners’ associations, townhomes, condominiums, and planned unit developments, under the umbrella of Amwins Underwriting.
CAIS will continue its existing operations, with the partnership allowing Amwins to offer a broader range of insurance programs tailored to community associations.
The company shared with AM Best that the integration aligns with its goal of expanding services within the community association market, providing clients with a more comprehensive suite of products and expertise.
Dowling Hales served as the exclusive financial adviser to CAIS during the transaction.
Aside from the CAIS partnership, Amwins is restructuring its international division, Amwins Global Risks, to strengthen underwriting capabilities.
A key part of the reorganization is the launch of Contour Underwriting, a new MGA focusing initially on marine cargo. The company plans to expand Contour’s offerings with additional product lines later this year.
As part of the overhaul, Amwins will also rebrand its global property underwriting business, previously operated under Unicorn Underwriting, to Contour.
The company said the restructuring aims to improve operational consistency, align resources more effectively, and create three distinct underwriting entities under Amwins International Underwriting.
