Amwins Group has promoted Ben Sloop (pictured) as president, effective Jan. 1, 2025, succeeding James Drinkwater, who will transition to become vice chair.
Sloop, who joined the company in 2005, has held various leadership roles within the company, including as president of Amwins Access and the group chief operating officer. As president and COO, Sloop will support the company’s drive to strategic growth, while focusing on M&A and the integration of data and analytics.
“Ben has been a key contributor to the success of Amwins, and his deep market insights have continually driven the company into new areas of opportunity,” Amwins chief executive Scott Purviance said. “His leadership has been instrumental in helping us differentiate ourselves in the marketplace, and I am thrilled he will take on this broader role.”
Drinkwater, meawhile, has been with the company for 20 years, joining in 2004. He will remain as executive chairman of Amwins Global Risks, focusing on retail client and carrier relationships.
Reflecting on his time at Amwins, Drinkwater said that his two decades with the company is the highlight of his career.
“It’s been an incredibly exciting journey, and I’m proud of everything we’ve achieved as a company,” Drinkwater said. “I look forward to continuing to support our colleagues as we continue to grow and evolve.”
As vice chair, Drinkwater will remain actively involved with the company and will serve in an advisory capacity.
“Both Ben and James have been at the forefront of many of our most successful initiatives, and I am deeply appreciative of their contributions, as well as their friendship and partnership,” Purviance said.
Amwins said the leadership change reflects the company’s commitment to being the premium partner in the wholesale insurance market and delivering unmatched services to clients.
In June this year, Amwins expanded its Gene Therapy Solutions (GTS) program through a partnership with Stealth Partner Group.
