Alliant Insurance Services has acquired Union First, a benefits consulting and third-party administration firm specializing in services for public safety labor associations, including police, firefighters, and deputy sheriffs.

The acquisition expands Alliant’s Employee Benefits Group in the West Region, enhancing its offerings for first responders and public safety professionals.

Union First provides a range of services, including benefits consulting, claims advocacy, collective bargaining support, and Benefit Trust administration. The firm’s focus is to deliver tailored solutions for public safety organizations while ensuring cost efficiency.

Greg Zimmer, chief executive officer of Alliant, highlighted the alignment between the two companies.

“Union First’s deep expertise in the unique needs of public safety organizations makes them a tremendous asset to Alliant,” Zimmer said. “Their focus on client-first service and understanding of the public safety culture aligns perfectly with Alliant’s mission to deliver exceptional, tailored benefits solutions to those who serve and protect our communities.”

Tim Regan (pictured above), president and chief executive officer of Union First, noted that joining Alliant would enable the firm to expand its services while maintaining its focus on unions and their members.

“We are excited to join forces with Alliant, knowing that our shared values of service and excellence will only strengthen our ability to support the dedicated men and women of public safety,” Regan said.

Union First has a history of delivering benefits solutions designed specifically for public safety clients. The firm is known for its proprietary underwriting models and its ability to modernize administrative protocols, offering cost-effective solutions without compromising member benefits.

Elsewhere, Alliant also recently appointed Rick Mack as senior vice president within its employee benefits group.

Based in Charlotte, N.C., Mack will work with clients nationwide, bringing more than 30 years of experience in benefits, retirement, and consulting.
