Alliant Insurance Services has announced the appointment of Lou Spina as senior vice president within its Alliant Specialty division, enhancing the firm’s surety operations in New York.
Spina, a seasoned professional in the surety industry with over 36 years of experience, will provide services to Alliant’s surety clients across the East Coast.
Spina’s background includes roles both as a surety underwriter and as a broker. Before joining Alliant, Spina held the position of senior vice president of Northeast Surety Operations at a national insurance brokerage and consulting firm’s Long Island office, where he honed his skills in surety underwriting and client service.
Spina also worked as a principal for another broker for more than five years. His educational background consists of a BS in accounting and finance from the Binghamton University School of Management and an MBA in banking and finance from Hofstra University.
Mike Cusack, executive vice president of Alliant Specialty, highlighted Spina’s appointment as a move to leverage his in-depth knowledge and business development acumen.
“In his role with Alliant, Lou will focus his expertise to develop and implement surety solutions for Alliant clients along the East Coast and employ his extensive business development skills to grow and expand Alliant’s reach throughout the region,” Cusack said.
Spina’s addition comes on the heels of a dual appointment across two states, with Alliant recently naming Matt Cohan and Frank Ross to its employee benefits group and Alliant Americas division respectively.
