Insurance brokerage ALKEME has announced its acquisition of Crawford Insurance Group (CIG), a personal and commercial insurance agency based in Rochester Hills, Michigan. The move represents ALKEME’s first expansion into Michigan and continues the firm’s strategic push into the Midwest, according to a news release.
Founded in 2001, CIG has built a reputation for its consistent performance and customer-focused approach. The agency has received the Nationwide President’s Award seven times and is licensed to operate in 36 states. Its offerings span personal and commercial insurance, group benefits, and Medicare.
“We are thrilled to welcome Crawford Insurance Group to the ALKEME family,” said Curtis Barton, CEO of ALKEME. “CIG’s outstanding track record of success, dedication to its customers, and leadership within the insurance industry align perfectly with our values and vision. This acquisition strengthens our presence in the Midwest and positions us to better serve our clients across the region.”
CIG president Tim Crawford noted the benefits of the partnership, citing opportunities for growth and continuity. “This partnership provides us with access to enhanced resources and expertise that will allow us to continue delivering exceptional service to our clients while expanding our reach,” Crawford said. “I am thrilled that my son Matt will lead the growth of the agency and that the entire team will remain with the agency.”
This announcement follows a series of recent ALKEME acquisitions amid significant economic developments in early 2025. On April 2, President Donald Trump announced sweeping tariffs on imports, leading to a global stock market downturn. The Dow Jones Industrial Average experienced a historic 4,000-point drop over two days, marking the largest decline since the 2020 pandemic-induced crash. These tariffs have raised concerns about inflation and economic stability, prompting the European Central Bank to consider further interest rate cuts to stimulate growth.
In the technology sector, companies like ASML have reported cautious revenue forecasts due to the uncertain trade environment. ASML’s CEO said that future revenue heavily depends on demand from key customers and the broader geopolitical climate.
