National financial services firm Alera Group announced that Jim Blue (pictured above), its current president, will assume the role of chief executive officer effective Jan. 1, 2025.
Blue will succeed Alan Levitz, who will transition to executive chairman of the company.
Blue brings extensive experience in the insurance, benefits, and financial services sectors, including his previous role as CEO of Marsh & McLennan Agency New England.
As CEO, he will lead Alera Group through its next phase of growth, while Levitz, as executive chairman, will focus on identifying strategic partners to further advance the company’s success.
Blue acknowledged Levitz’s role in building the foundation of Alera Group, adding that as CEO he looks forward to leading the team in continuing to provide value to clients and stakeholders. He noted the company’s commitment to building a business that attracts investment.
Under Levitz's leadership, Alera Group noted that it has grown from $150 million in revenue to nearly $1.4 billion in 2023. Since Blue joined as president in 2018, the company has accelerated its growth, increasing revenue by almost 330%. During this period, Alera Group integrated more than 125 offices and expanded its team to over 4,400 employees.
Levitz expressed confidence in Blue’s leadership, stating that Blue’s ability to engage colleagues and communicate a strategic vision will support the company’s continued success in a dynamic market.
Founded in 2017, Alera Group said that it has focused on providing client-centric solutions by leveraging a collaborative culture and entrepreneurial spirit. The leadership transition is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to build on its achievements and continue its growth trajectory.
In April, the firm announced that it has acquired Texas-based agency HealthSure for an undisclosed sum.
Under the deal, the HealthSure roster will remain intact, with colleagues continuing to carry out their current functions serving rural healthcare organizations. HealthSure is the name behind the community program HealthConnect.
