The Hilb Group has expanded its employee benefits presence in the Midwest region via an acquisition.

In its announcement, the Virginia-headquartered property & casualty and employee benefits insurance brokerage and advisory firm said it acquired an employee benefits book of business in Illinois.

The transaction, financial terms of which were not disclosed, took effect at the start of the month.

Recent acquisitions by the group include a Georgia-based worksite and voluntary benefits business and a Tennessee-based voluntary benefits enrollment, benefits communication, and technology consulting firm.

In January, Hilb Group appointed Amanda Harm as vice president for carrier relations and insurance strategy.

A portfolio company of global investment firm The Carlyle Group, Hilb Group seeks to grow through strategic acquisitions and by driving organic growth in its acquired agencies.

Operating from more than 125 offices in 29 states, the company has completed over 165 acquisitions.
