Mark Schoeff Jr. is a senior reporter for Insurance Business America based in Washington, D.C. Prior to joining IBA in February 2024, he wrote for nearly 14 years for InvestmentNews, another Key Media publication. He won an award from Editor & Publisher in 2022 for best news/political blog for his IN column, D.C. Insider.

Before joining InvestmentNews, Schoeff was the Washington correspondent for Workforce Management, writing about employment and labor law. During his more than three decades in Washington, Schoeff also has served as director of external relations for a think tank, the Center for Strategic and International Studies, and as press secretary for then-Sen. Richard Lugar of Indiana.

Schoeff is active in the National Press Club, where he is currently membership secretary and previously served as board chair.
