London-headquartered specialist managing general agent Casper Specialty UK Limited, which entered the market in March 2023, has hired Jacob Blomfield as head of operations.

Blomfield made the switch from Argenta Syndicate Management Limited, where he served as head of delegated underwriting management. His credentials also include time spent at Chesterfield Insurance Brokers, AmTrust, and Antares.

With over a decade of Lloyd’s market experience, Blomfield brings extensive knowledge in the operational setup and support of delegated underwriting to his new role at Casper. He is tasked with advancing the MGA’s operational infrastructure, emphasizing data capture, storage, and utilisation.

Casper, now in its second year, operates independently as a sister company of Miller with a focus on casualty, underwriting a variety of financial institutions, directors and officers, and professional lines business.

Last month, the MGA announced Chaucer and Tokio Marine Kiln as additional capacity providers on top of Argenta. Casper also accreditation to operate in Germany as part of its European expansion plans.

Meanwhile, lifting the lid on the latest development at Casper, chief operating officer Simon Sykes remarked: “Jacob’s appointment represents another milestone as we continue to build Casper as a leading casualty MGA.

“As we continue to scale the business through our nuanced and agile approach to underwriting, Jacob’s energy and operational expertise will help shape the future of Casper, further enabling us to deliver attractive returns and a differentiated offering, with truly data-led underwriting at our core.

“Following our successful first year of trading, we are excited to be growing our teams both in the UK and Europe, and Jacob’s appointment reflects our ambition to be an attractive home for entrepreneurial talent. We are delighted to have him on board.”

Blomfield’s appointment took effect on June 1.
