VIG Re has appointed Viktor Faucret as managing director of VIG Re France and head of Western Europe for its treaty non-life business unit.

Faucret, who has been with VIG Re since 2017, has held various underwriting roles within the company. Before assuming his new position, he served as underwriting manager for France and the BeNeLux region from April 2022 to September 2024. Prior to that, he worked as a senior treaty underwriter and a treaty underwriter in VIG Re’s Paris office.

Before joining VIG Re, Faucret spent more than four years at Gen Re, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., where he worked as a Facultative Underwriter and an Underwriter Trainee.

He holds a master of management in finance and business administration from NEOMA Business School and a licence in economics, finance, and statistics from Faculté de Gestion, Economie & Sciences. He also holds a Certificate in Insurance (Cert CII) from the Chartered Insurance Institute.

In addition to his professional roles, Faucret has been a member of the Non-Life Committee at APREF (Association des Professionnels de la Réassurance en France) since 2019. His background also includes service as a second lieutenant in the French Army, where he completed cadet training at ESM St-Cyr & EC Saumur and the Foreign Legion.

VIG Re has positioned this appointment as part of its broader effort to strengthen its brand and operations in Western Europe.

VIG Re also recently appointed Hong-Wha Ling to the newly created role of chief people officer. Ling will lead strategic HR initiatives, emphasizing culture, inclusion, and innovation to support the company's long-term resilience and growth. Ling said his focus will be strengthening the company’s people management framework, attracting and retaining talent, and enhancing employee engagement.

The creation of the chief people officer role is in line with the company’s receipt of a Great Place to Work certification in 2024.
