The International Insurance Society (IIS) has announced the Reinsurance Group of America’s (RGA) Leaders of Tomorrow Class of 2025, a group of emerging insurance professionals selected from various global markets.
A number of participants from the cohort will present their perspectives at the 61st IIS Global Insurance Forum, scheduled for Oct. 26-27, at the Swiss Re Centre for Global Dialogue.
The initiative focuses on the development of early- and mid-career insurance professionals who have shown potential for leadership roles. Participants are matched with senior executives from the industry to examine strategic challenges, engage in cross-functional collaboration, and build international professional networks.
Each participant in the Leaders of Tomorrow program is required to conduct research and submit an original paper. One participant will be selected for the RGA Leaders of Tomorrow Award based on the strength of their submission.
Additionally, three individuals from the class will be invited to participate in the “Next Generation Leadership” panel during the upcoming forum.
Josh Landau, president of IIS, said the program is designed to shape industry talent into leadership roles and highlighted the long-term partnership with RGA.
“Our enduring partnership with RGA reflects a profound, shared commitment to cultivating the next generation of leadership. More than a celebration of mentorship, this initiative represents a strategic investment in the long-term sustainability, innovation, and resilience of our industry,” Landau said.
“We're empowering these promising professionals to not only navigate tomorrow's complex challenges but also guide others, driving innovation and success across the industry,” RGA president and CEO Tony Cheng (pictured above) said.
The program marked its 10th anniversary in 2024, having begun in 2014 as a leadership development initiative tailored to insurance professionals poised to take on greater responsibility.
Finalists from the 2024 cohort conducted research and presented findings on a range of themes, including leadership in emerging markets, financial literacy’s role in societal resilience, and how insurers can address protection gaps among aging populations.
Since its inception, the program has supported 86 mentees representing 17 countries, underscoring its international reach and its goal of fostering cross-border industry collaboration.
RGA’s broader role in the life and health reinsurance market adds scale to its sponsorship. As of the end of 2024, the company reported US$3.9 trillion in reinsured life coverage and held US$118.7 billion in total assets.
