Lockton Re has appointed Mark van der Does (pictured above) as a senior broker on its mortgage and structured credit team.
He brings 12 years of experience in the credit insurance industry, advising banks and non-bank financial institutions on credit risk and capital management strategies.
Van der Does previously served as vice president in the credit specialties division at Marsh, where he worked for a decade from 2015 to 2024. Before that, he was an underwriting analyst at Starr Companies in 2014.
His earlier experience includes roles as an intern in credit and political risks at Jardine Lloyd Thompson in 2013, an editorial assistant at Latin American Newsletters in 2012, and a research and business development intern at Drum Commodities Limited in 2011.
In his new role, van der Does will focus on supporting clients in the mortgage and structured credit sectors, leveraging his experience in credit insurance and financial risk management.
Lockton Re’s global mortgage and structured credit segment was established in 2023, co-led by Sean Hannah and Joe Koebele.
Lockton Re also recently announced several major appointments across its other units. In January, Theo Norris joined its capital markets division, serving as the UK capital markets structuring and cyber insurance-linked securities (ILS) leader and operating from the London office and collaborating with the firm’s global broking and cyber teams.
Also in January, Lockton Re bolstered its international property and casualty division in London with the appointment of two senior brokers: Daniel Moruzzi and Matthew Cope.
Beyond appointments, Lockton Re also expanded its business in December with the launch of Lockton Re Portfolio Solutions, a new segment focused on programs and managing general agents in the US.
