Hannover Re has expanded its claims proposition with the appointment of Carola Moore (pictured above) as head of claims.
Before joining Hannover Re, Moore held several leadership positions at AIA Australia, where she served as head of group claims and head of industry fund claims. Prior to that, she was head of rest claims at AIA Australia, overseeing claims strategy and operational processes.
Her career also includes roles at AMP, where she led claims learning and development initiatives and was involved in claims transformation programs.
Moore has worked internationally, holding positions in Australia, Canada, and South Africa. She has also served as an associate faculty member at Royal Roads University, specializing in leadership studies.
Her educational background includes a master of leadership from Royal Roads University and a BA (hon) in industrial and organizational psychology from the University of South Africa.
Moore is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has certifications in risk management, corporate governance, and behavioral economics. She is actively involved in industry organizations, serving as a national board member of the Australasian Life Underwriting and Claims Association (ALUCA) and as a member of its Education Working Group.
Hannover Re’s claims figures saw notable developments in the year prior, with some large-scale events affecting its 2024 financials.
The company’s net expenditure from large losses totaled €1.6 billion in 2024, aligning with the company's budgeted expectation of €1.825 billion. That said, Hannover Re also anticipates losses ranging from €500 million to €700 million due to the Los Angeles wildfires that occurred in early 2025.
The reinsurer’s last high-profile appointment came last year, when Hannover Re Bermuda named Michael Eberhardt to become its new managing director and chief underwriting officer.
Prior to this, Eberhardt served as the head of Hannover Re’s Australian branch and the Business Center for Treaty in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ).
