Gallagher Re has announced the appointment of Henrik Hoppendorff (pictured) as a senior facultative broker within its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) division.

Based in Stockholm, Hoppendorff will operate as part of the Nordic team while also supporting clients and placements across the wider EMEA region.

Hoppendorff brings extensive experience in property reinsurance, with a background that spans Continental Europe and London markets. Prior to joining Gallagher Re in May 2025, he served as Divisional Director and Head of International Direct & Facultative (D&F) Property at United Insurance Brokers Limited from January 2023 to April 2025.

Before that, he held the position of team leader for Central Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at Aon’s Global Broking Centre. Between October 2018 and January 2022, Hoppendorff was vice president at Marsh, where he focused on property placement in the London Market for FTSE 250 clients.

Earlier in his career, he held underwriting roles at One Risk Africa Ltd, Protector Forsikring ASA, XL Catlin, and AIG. These positions involved facultative and treaty underwriting, as well as property and energy risks across multiple regions, including the Nordics and Africa.

His academic background includes a master’s degree in economics and business administration from Uppsala University, with additional studies at Hanken School of Economics and participation in exchange programs at the Athens University of Economics and Business.

In a LinkedIn statement, Gallagher Re said that Hoppendorff will be responsible for supporting clients with complex property risks and contributing to facultative reinsurance placements throughout key European markets.

Gallagher Re also recently bolstered its presence in Japan with a new senior manager for its Tokyo office. The reinsurance broker named Satoshi Yamazaki to the role, where he brings over a decade of reinsurance experience, having held treaty and facultative underwriting roles across multiple global hubs.
