Gallagher Re has appointed Anna Dill (pictured above) as executive vice president, based in Minneapolis. Dill joins the global reinsurance broker following more than 15 years in the legacy liability sector, with responsibilities centered on US large account property and casualty origination and client advocacy.
Prior to joining Gallagher Re, Dill served as managing director at Howden Re from January 2023 to September 2024. In that role, she led more than 20 retrospective reinsurance transactions. Her experience also includes more than a decade at TigerRisk Partners, where she held positions as partner and broker.
Dill began her career at Aon Benfield as a senior analyst between 2008 and 2010. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Business from Bethel University.
In an announcement welcoming Dill to the firm, Gallagher Re noted her expertise in legacy liabilities would support its capabilities across large account business development. She will operate from the Minneapolis office and report into the firm's North American leadership team.
Dill has contributed to the broader industry through writing and speaking engagements. She has authored articles for Carrier Management and has been a speaker at conferences such as the AIRROC and Runoff Deal Market Forums.
The appointment of Dill follows a string of recent leadership changes at Gallagher Re aimed at expanding its global reach and technical capabilities. Earlier this month, the firm named Ben Lyon as head of its Capital Advisory practice in London.
Lyon also assumed the role of CEO of Gallagher Securities Limited, bringing legal expertise from his previous tenure at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. His background in mergers and acquisitions, reinsurance transactions, and insurance-linked securities structuring is expected to support the firm’s growth in capital markets advisory.
Gallagher Re also recently strengthened its North American operations. Lisa Duncan was promoted to senior vice president and now leads the North America program solutions team.
Duncan joined Gallagher Re from BMS Re US and has more than 16 years of experience in reinsurance broking. Her appointment is part of the firm’s continued investment in programmatic distribution capabilities and specialty lines support.
Outside the US and UK, Gallagher Re continues to focus on regional development. In April, the firm appointed Riaan Botes as regional director for South Africa. Based in Cape Town, Botes brings more than 25 years of experience, including prior leadership at Santam Re, and a background in underwriting and actuarial work.
