AXIS has announced the appointment of Emilia Siravo (pictured above) as head of ceded reinsurance – North America.
In her new role, Siravo will lead the company’s North America Ceded Re strategy and execution, which AXIS says will contribute to the development of the company’s gross and net portfolio. Siravo is based in New York City.
Before joining AXIS, Siravo spent more than six years at Swiss Re, where she most recently served as head of IGR process and management. Prior to that, she worked as a transfer pricing manager at Swiss re and as a senior underwriter at the company earlier in her career.
Her previous experience also includes roles at Guy Carpenter, where she worked as a catastrophe modeler, specializing in risk assessment and modeling techniques.
Siravo holds a bachelor of science in management and finance from The Wharton School and a master’s degree in MATESOL from The New School, where she graduated with academic distinction. She also completed the Transfer Pricing Executive Program at the University of Lausanne.
She holds several professional certifications, including the Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) designation from the American Reinsurance Association, as well as the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.
Elsewhere for the global re/insurance firm, AXIS Capital also bolstered its casualty practice with the promotion of Steve Cucciniello as head of its primary casualty division. Cucciniello joined AXIS in 2014 and has over 30 years of industry experience.
Meanwhile, the firm also reported a financial boom as it revealed a trebling in its net income available to common shareholders to US$1.1 billion for the year ended Dec. 31, or US$12.35 per diluted common share, up from US$346 million, or US$4.02 per diluted common share, in 2023.
Operating income for the year was US$952 million, or US$11.18 per diluted common share, compared to US$486 million, or US$5.65 per diluted common share, the previous year.
