Ascot has appointed Steven Goldman (pictured above) as global head of distribution, a newly created role within the organization.

In his role, Goldman will be responsible for developing and executing Ascot's global distribution strategy.

Goldman joins Ascot with over 25 years of experience in the insurance industry. He most recently served as president, global management and professional liability at CNA, where he oversaw the affinity, financial lines, and healthcare business units.

Before CNA, he was vice president, Chubb Group and division president, North America financial lines, managing a US$3.5 billion portfolio across large and middle markets. He also held responsibility for retail distribution and shared oversight of wholesale distribution for key product lines. He began his career at AIG as an underwriter for transactional risk products.

Goldman will report to Jonathan Zaffino, group CEO and president, and is set to join the re/insurance group on July 7. He will be based in Stamford, Connecticut.

In a statement, Zaffino said the addition of the role reinforces the company's focus on global service and broker relationships.

"Steve is both highly attuned to the risk challenges our specialty clients face in an increasingly volatile world and brings a tremendous track record of successful industry leadership to Ascot,” Zaffino said.

Goldman's appointment follows a series of leadership changes within Ascot. In April, Ascot named Marc Amen as CEO for North America. Amen oversees operations in the US and Bermuda and serve on the Ascot Group executive committee.

As part of its broader organizational strategy, Ascot has also expanded its board of directors to include individuals with backgrounds in finance and retail. Rosalind Brewer, Martin Flanagan, and Robert Sewell joined the board earlier this year.

In underwriting and operations, Ascot has made additional leadership appointments aimed at expanding its specialty lines and enhancing risk evaluation. Eric Herman was named group head of underwriting performance management, while Jon Mosby was appointed Deputy chief underwriting officer for US marine and property.
