Aon plc has introduced a new leadership structure within its reinsurance solutions division, appointing four senior executives to oversee strategic and regional operations.

The changes are part of the firm’s ongoing alignment of talent and resources to support its global reinsurance advisory and analytics business.

Alfonso Valera has been named CEO of international for reinsurance, responsible for markets in the UK, EMEA, and APAC. Steve Hofmann assumes the role of CEO of Americas for reinsurance, covering North and Latin America. George Attard has been appointed global head of strategy for reinsurance, while Tomas Novotny takes on the role of chairman of international for reinsurance.

"We are delighted to promote Alfonso, Steve, George and Tomas into these important leadership roles as we accelerate the ambition and velocity of our industry-leading Reinsurance solutions business," said Andy Marcell, who leads Aon's integrated risk capital and human capital capabilities across the firm's reinsurance, commercial risk, health, wealth and talent teams. "These appointments reflect the depth and quality of leadership across our firm. Together, they bring decades of leadership experience, deep client relationships, market knowledge and domain expertise. Supported by outstanding talent and experts across our regions, they will help shape the next stage of our growth."

According to Marcell, the appointments follow the firm’s strategy to develop integrated client services by reinforcing leadership and focusing on areas such as analytics, AI, and climate advisory.

Valera previously served as Co-CEO of EMEA for reinsurance and CEO of Aon Re Iberia. Hofmann was most recently the US CEO of reinsurance and had earlier served as US co-president. Attard led Aon’s APAC reinsurance operations and has spent nearly two decades in roles tied to strategy and client development. Novotny, based in Prague, has held regional leadership roles across Central and Eastern Europe.

The announcement follows continued leadership changes across the insurance industry, including the appointment of former Lloyd’s CEO John Neal as president of AIG. Neal is set to take on responsibility for AIG’s global general insurance operations starting Dec. 1.

While Aon’s update focuses on internal alignment, it comes at a time when global insurers and reinsurers are adjusting management structures to match evolving market priorities and client needs.
