American International Group (AIG) announced the election of tech veteran Juan Perez (pictured) to its Board of Directors. The appointment was effective February 20, 2025, as AIG continues to leverage its data and digital strategy.

Perez, elected as an independent director, is executive vice president and chief information officer at Salesforce. His experience is more than three decades long, with a focus on artificial intelligence, data strategy, and digital transformation. He led UPS' embrace of advanced analytics and AI deployments in the past.

“I am very pleased to welcome Juan to the AIG Board of Directors and look forward to his contributions as we continue to advance our data and digital strategy,” Peter Zaffino, AIG chairman & CEO, said in a press release.

John Rice, lead independent director at AIG, further said, "Juan’s experience at the forefront of enterprise AI and working with leading companies on digital transformation aligns well with AIG’s focus on delivering exceptional value to clients and stakeholders."

Perez was thrilled to be a part of AIG at a time of technological growth. "I am impressed with AIG’s underwriting profitability, financial performance and strategic progress in multiple key areas including their development of a GenAI and Large Language Model powered solution.”

The new board member graduated from the University of Southern California with both a bachelor's and master's degree in industrial and systems engineering and computer and manufacturing engineering, respectively.

In addition to AIG, he is also a member of The Hershey Company and Wabtec Corporation boards and has advisory roles at the University of Southern California's School of Industrial and Systems Engineering and Georgia Tech's School of Business.
