Gallagher Re has announced two key appointments to its life and health reinsurance team.
Sanjeeb Kumar (pictured right) has joined as chairman of life and health, India, and Addise Li has been appointed head of life and health reinsurance for China and Hong Kong. These new roles are part of Gallagher Re's strategy to expand its reinsurance business in key markets.
Kumar brings extensive experience to his new role, where he will lead the growth of Gallagher Re's life and health reinsurance business in India. His previous roles include CEO of Gen Re India, where he oversaw operations from 2019 to 2022.
Kumar has also held senior positions at Aviva, AEGON Religare Life Insurance, and Max New York Life Insurance. His career spans over three decades, with expertise in actuarial functions, product development, pricing, reinsurance, and risk management.
Li, appointed as head of life and health reinsurance for China and Hong Kong, will lead the company's efforts in these markets. Li joins from AXA, where she was the commercial and client management head for life and health reinsurance in China.
Prior to that, she spent more than 11 years at Aon, holding various leadership roles in Greater China, including head of life and health product reinsurance solutions.
The company says that Kumar and Li’s appointments reflect Gallagher Re's commitment to expanding its life and health reinsurance presence in Asia. Both will play pivotal roles in driving growth and delivering tailored solutions in their respective markets.
In other recent developments, Gallagher has also announced the appointment of Bruce Dettling as global head of mining and heavy industry, a newly established role aimed at strengthening the company’s global specialist practice in this sector.
Dettling will officially join Gallagher in November and will report to Malcolm Payton, CEO of property and casualty insurance solutions and head of global fac at Gallagher Specialty.
