Chaucer has appointed Iryna Chekanava (pictured) as senior innovation underwriter as it reinforces its focus on key areas like weather risk, climate change, and parametric insurance.
In her new role, Chekanava will work closely with Tom Graham, head of partnerships and innovation at Chaucer, and Nasra Ahmed, senior innovation manager, to drive forward the Chaucer’s innovation initiatives in the rapidly evolving (re)insurance sector.
She brings over a decade of experience in business growth and product development, particularly in insurance technology. At Lloyd's Lab, she managed innovation growth and partnerships, while prior experience includes roles with InsurTech companies such as Envelop Risk and Blocksure, as well as time as an Open Innovation Fellow at London & Partners. She began her career at Capgemini, a management consultancy.
“Iryna’s creative energy, her focus on collaboration, and commitment to finding solutions for new customer problems will be key in keeping Chaucer at the forefront of innovation in the insurance sector,” Graham said.
“I’m incredibly excited to join Chaucer and support the cutting-edge innovation work that they do. The (re)insurance industry is rapidly evolving–and innovation drives that change. I look forward very much to working with Tom and the team at Chaucer,” Chekanava said.
Chekanava’s appointment comes as Chaucer continues to ramp up its innovation efforts, as highlighted in a recent white paper. The company has partnered with organizations such as Kita, a carbon credit insurer, K2 parametric, which provides bespoke parametric insurance for commercial clients, and GAIA, which offers IVF insurance across the UK, Europe, and the U.S.
