FM has appointed Lyndon Broad (pictured) as executive vice president of staff insurance operations, effective Dec. 1, 2024.

In his new role, Broad will oversee FM’s core insurance operations, which encompass underwriting, research and engineering, claims, data analytics and artificial intelligence, and global client services, sales, and marketing, according to a news release. Broad, who has been with FM for over 30 years, brings extensive experience across the insurer’s global operations. He has held senior roles in Australia, Asia, the United Kingdom, and the United States, most recently serving as senior vice president and chief underwriting officer.

Broad will succeed Randy Hodge, who was recently promoted to the position of chief operating officer.

“Lyndon brings extensive operations and management experience with FM, including senior operations roles in all of our key disciplines and geographic regions,” said Malcolm Roberts, chairman and chief executive officer of FM. “He is the perfect fit to lead our staff insurance operations team and ensure we continue delivering best-in-class services for our clients to manage current and future risks.”

Broad holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Swinburne University in Melbourne, Australia.

The announcement comes after FM named Randy Hodge as its new chief operating officer, effective Dec. 1, 2024. Hodge succeeds Bret Ahnell, who will retire in March 2025 after nearly 40 years with the company.

In April, Roberts was appointed chair of FM’s board of directors, adding to his responsibilities as president and CEO. The company closed 2023 with $22.5 billion in surplus and a 67.4% combined ratio.

FM, established nearly two centuries ago, is a mutual insurance company dedicated to property risk management and resilience for its policyholder-owners. The company’s expertise spans capital investment, scientific research, and engineering, with a focus on preventing property loss.
