The Halliwell Group has expanded its operations across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, following the purchase of Quintons, a commercial property surveying firm based in New Zealand.

McLarens, the parent company of Halliwell, completed the acquisition, adding Quintons offices in Auckland, Wellington, and Melbourne to its portfolio.

Quintons, established in 2018, is a Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors-regulated firm that provides a range of property surveying services. These include building surveying, contract administration, quantity surveying, and other technical services. The firm’s focus is on helping clients manage financial risks related to building development and ownership.

What to expect from Halliwell’s acquisition of Quintons

Quintons will now become part of Halliwell’s existing network of specialist services in the region, which includes Mode Project Solutions, Halliwell Forensics, and Fire Group Passive Fire Experts.

James Bundy, the founding director of Quintons, will continue to lead the firm’s operations.

Commenting on the agreement, Bundy said joining Halliwell enables the firm to expand its reach into international markets.

“This is a hugely exciting opportunity for our team,” he added.

Bundy will report to Colin Taylor (pictured above), managing director for Halliwell in Australia and New Zealand.

Taylor said the acquisition will enhance the group’s capabilities in the APAC region.

“We are continuing to expand the services that we can offer clients in the region, and this is an exciting development for the Halliwell group of companies,” he said, highlighting that Quintons shares the group’s commitment to offering specialised services to the insurance and related industries. We look forward to working with James and the team.”

GKA Investigations Group rebrands as Halliwell in ANZ

In 2023, GKA Investigations Group (GKA), a US-based firm specialising in engineering and forensic investigations, rebranded under the Halliwell name in both New Zealand and Australia as part of its regional expansion.

The rebranding aligns GKA with Halliwell’s global strategy while maintaining its existing loss consulting services for insurers, corporations, law firms, and government clients.

Halliwell continues to offer services such as fire forensics, factual investigations, and forensic engineering, as well as introduce new capabilities in engineering and construction consulting. These additional services focus on property damage assessments, failure analysis, and solutions for repairs or replacements.

In a previous statement, Taylor highlighted the importance of this rebranding in growing the firm’s regional presence, including being able to deliver more comprehensive services to clients in Australia and New Zealand.

“Joining the renowned Halliwell group of companies provides us with a platform to expand our offering in terms of service lines and international reach,” he said.
