A South African insurer has signed a multi-million sponsorship deal to support football referees.
Youi takes over AAMI as the official partner for the NRL’s referees for the next two years, in a deal that features its brand on the front of the referees’ shirts and aligns the code officials to its “Make It Count” marketing campaign.
“Youi Insurance is proud to align our passion for supporting our clients with the passion of the NRL, the refs, the players, and the fans,” said Hugo Schreuder, Youi group chief marketing officer to Mumbrella.

Andrew Abdo, head of commercial at NRL, commented on the new sponsorship: “It’s exciting for the NRL to work in collaboration with a dynamic brand renowned for its enterprising approach to insurance.”
He also thanked general insurer AAMI for its support in the previous years.
“AAMI has been a long-term partner of the NRL match officials as well as the Country-City fixture, and in the process has been a great contributor to enhancing the status of our match officials from grassroots to the elite level,” Abdo said in the report.
