XL Catlin has promoted Melissa McDermott to head of pricing for global lines, the company has announced.
In her new role, McDermott will be responsible for driving portfolio and technical improvement across the company’s global lines portfolio. She will sit on the pricing leadership team and the global lines leadership team.
“Melissa has built up considerable experience and shown impressive leadership qualities throughout her time at XL Catlin,” said Paul Shedden, chief executive of insurance pricing and analytics. “She has consistently demonstrated the skills and appetite required for driving positive change, and this will stand her in good stead in her new role.”
“Our global lines portfolio encompasses an incredibly diverse range of risks, covering fine art and specie, political risk and credit bond, energy, accident and health, aviation, marine, and crisis management,” said Doug Howat, chief executive of global lines. “Having someone with Melissa’s experience will stand us in good stead as we further develop our global lines offering.”
McDermott has 20 years of reserving and insurance pricing experience. She joined XL Catlin seven years ago in actuarial financial reporting. She’s also served as head of pricing for global risk management and deputy head of pricing for the company’s North American business group.
