Specialist insurance law firm Wotton + Kearney (W+K) has ended June with 34 promotions in Australia and New Zealand, including new partners.
The appointments are part of the law firm’s continued expansion across key insurance lines and areas of growth, including cyber and technology, health, commercial litigation, and pro bono.
Cavanagh (pictured top) is an expert in financial services professional indemnity and D&O coverage work. He is experienced in advising on shareholder class actions, regulatory investigations by ASIC, financial services complaints including ACFA complaints, financial services remediation schemes, and coverage issues arising from them.
Ho is an expert human rights lawyer and leader in the pro bono sector. She had a key role in building W+K’s pro bono practice’s reputation and developing its Community Footprint program. She also leads the firm’s human rights and law reform work.
Morrissey specialises in advising local and global insurers and their insured clients on technology liability claims – including defence, coverage, and recoveries following cyber claims – a key area of the firm’s rapidly expanding cyber & technology practice.
Swinerd specialises in material damage, business interruption, and general liability matters. He has a track record in providing advice on complex coverage issues and handling high-value litigation.
W+K also promoted 11 special counsels, 7 senior associates, and 12 associates across its eight offices.
Commenting on the promotion spree, W+K chief executive partner David Kearney said: “It’s fantastic to see Wotton + Kearney continuing to grow so strongly. Our growth is a testament to our ‘people first’ culture and commitment to recognising emerging talent and growing the ranks of our senior specialists in key insurance lines, cyber and technology, commercial litigation, and pro bono.”
The latest appointments boost W+K’s numbers to 76 partners and over 350 lawyers across eight offices. Earlier this year, the law firm expanded its Adelaide team by establishing a new office and welcoming two partners and four other team members.
