Tower Insurance has appointed a new chief risk officer, with Sharyn Reichstein taking over the role. She will officially step into her new post in July.
Reichstein joins from the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA), where she currently holds the post of general manager of general insurance. She also serves as APRA’s general insurance industry group chair, a role that sees her scanning the risk environment and setting appropriate responses to issues within the industry.
Tower chief executive Blair Turnbull said in a press release that Reichstein’s hiring is central to the insurer’s plans of further developing its risk management across New Zealand and the Pacific.
“Sharyn brings a wealth of knowledge to Tower in corporate governance, financial regulation, financial risk, and risk management,” Turnbull said. “[Her] expertise will further accelerate our ambition of creating more simple, fair and transparent services to suit the modern needs and lifestyles of our customers.”
According to her LinkedIn, Reichstein holds a bachelor of education, mathematics, and science from the University of South Australia and a master of business administration from the University of Canberra. She is currently working on her diploma in law at the University of Sydney.
