Evolve Insurance Brokers is a business focused around giving, and recently celebrated three years in operation – though according to founder Nevil Chand (pictured), the journey has not been without its challenges.
Evolve has donated over $15,000 to its own philanthropic organisation, The Evolve Foundation, which collaborates with charities to provide them with the essentials they need for their day-to-day activities. Chand says that building a business designed to give before it profits has been tough, but that ultimately, it has been extremely rewarding to stay true to the mission that he set out to achieve from day one.
“Evolve has, well, evolved in many ways over the last year, but I do think it’s me who has evolved more than the business!” Chand told Insurance Business. “It’s been challenging from the very beginning, and I know that won’t change – but what has changed is the way I perceive challenges. Challenging situations are always what you need, even if you don’t like it. Once you accept what you need, what you want will soon follow.”
“Evolve celebrated its third birthday in July this year and it really was a mini-milestone for me,” Chand continued.
“One of the biggest challenges has been to remain true to my vision and to stay on the path on which I have chosen to take Evolve. Giving away profits before becoming a ‘well-established’ business is hard work, so having little to no money at times has been challenging. But during these times of not having, I have rediscovered all the other things I do have, and am now more grateful for than ever before.”
Evolve recently took on its Project Two with The Movement Collaborative, an organisation founded by a former champion wakeboarder dedicated to spinal cord research. Chand says his brokerage will now look to focus specifically on mental health, and is in the process of searching for an organisation to collaborate with on a new project.
When it comes to the future of his business, Chand says he would like to see Evolve continue moving towards its ultimate goal – to be a vehicle for equality by offering financial advice, and providing support where it is most needed.
“Evolve’s vision to promote equality by changing the way wealth is distributed and putting the power back into the consumer’s hands – that’s the biggest challenge,” Chand said. “It’s very simple, but it’s not easy.
“My own personal purpose is to help people and serve humanity, and I will be extremely satisfied and grateful for however I am to achieve this. Evolve is a vehicle for change, to help people evolve in their financial lives while at the same time providing wealth for those in need through ethical economics.
“Whoever comes through Evolve for this service will help generate donations for The Evolve Foundation, which is really exciting!”
