Suncorp New Zealand has added Alison Barrass (pictured above left) and Kate Jorgensen (pictured above right) as independent directors of Suncorp’s businesses in New Zealand – Vero New Zealand Insurance, Vero Liability Insurance and Asteron Life.
Barrass has significant experience in the fast-moving consumer goods sector and in governance, leadership and innovation across several New Zealand firms that are investing in digitisation or expanding overseas. She is currently a director with Spark NZ, Rockit Apples and Zespri, and is chair of Tom & Luke and Babich Wines. She has also previously held CEO roles.
Jorgensen brings financial, audit and commercial experience to Suncorp NZ and has held several senior leadership positions within the telecommunications, infrastructure and construction industries. Her experience in governance focuses on risk management and sustainability. She is currently a non-executive director of Chorus and a board trustee of the Dingle Foundation. Jorgensen was previously chief financial officer of Vodafone New Zealand. She also served as CFO of KiwiRail, CFO of Fletcher Building's infrastructure division and senior audit manager for KPMG.
“Both of these independent directors have a strong customer focus which can be seen in their current and previous directorships,” said David Flacks, Suncorp New Zealand board chair. “I am really excited to have them join us.”
