Nautilus Marine Insurance Agency Ltd has appointed Graeme Orchard to be its New Zealand national manager.
With over 30 years’ marine insurance expertise under his belt, Orchard left his most recent role as NZ marine manager for
QBE Insurance to take up the position.
Orchard, who is recognised as one of the most knowledgeable marine underwriters in the Australasian market, has been tasked with growing the brand in the New Zealand market.
Plans are to extend the portfolio from its pleasurecraft roots to a full marine underwriting agency offering a complete suite of Cargo, Hull and Marine Liability products designed specifically for the Kiwi market.
Orchard said: “I’m looking forward to building upon the current portfolio that has run successfully for the last 3 years and widening the product lines, working with our intermediaries and taking the business to the next level.
“The level of expertise, dynamics and strength of support of our underwriting partners will be refreshing for the market, and the doors are well and truly open for business,” he said.
With experience in the wider marine space a key feature of NM Insurance’s expertise, Orchard fits in well, having frequently presented to exporters and importers forums.
He is a lifelong yachtsman and competes at a high level in offshore and ocean racing.
NM Insurance Group CEO Lyndon Turner said Orchard was a fantastic addition to the company.
“His vast experience in the marine insurance sector is what the market expects, and what we expect from our team.
“Our leading edge products and service sets us apart from the other providers in the market and our much wider product appetite, and strength from our Lloyds partners, will certainly help our intermediaries and their clients.”
