The broker Wolfpack team have had their fair share of challenges in the lead up to this year’s
State of Insurance rugby league tournament but captain Cedric Suifua is still confident they can break their losing streak.
“We are in a busy season due to this soft market and many of the boys are either working hard or too busy to turn out to trainings so we have had to make do with what we’ve had,” said Suifua.
“A couple of players have succumbed to injuries and illness last minute and fitness may be an issue as many of our players have not played contact sports in a few years but nonetheless we will give it 100%.”
The afternoon kicks off at 2.45pm today at Auckland’s Victoria Park starting with the over 35s followed by the main event game at 3.45pm.
The insurer Spartan team have won the previous three years’ games and Suifua admits their opponents have a ‘very solid’ team again this year.
“We welcome the challenge,” he said. “The tag of underdog is one that will apply to us but we all know what happens when your corner a dog or the wolfpack.”
He added: “It’s always good to let a little steam off by putting a hit on our valued business partners.”
Supporters are being urged to arrive early to get a good spot and to remember that the after match function at The Fox bar is a ticketed event.
