PetSure is providing emergency boarding cover for policyholders affected by the record flooding in Auckland.
The pet insurer said the initiative — a first for the New Zealand market — aims to help pet owners ensure the safety and well-being of their insured pets and ease the burden on those impacted by the extreme weather event.
“Following Auckland’s wettest day, we wanted to help provide relief for pet parents who may be displaced by the floods, and who need to quickly access safe and dry accommodation for their pets during this stressful time,” PetSure CEO Alex Thomas said.
AA Pet Insurance and SPCA Pet Insurance policyholders may access emergency pet boarding, with their eligible costs covered by their policy, until March 31.
PetSure said emergency boarding support is available for all eligible customers no matter their level of cover. Customers will need to submit their invoices to [email protected].
Last week, unprecedented rainfall triggered severe flooding that killed four people and forced evacuations in New Zealand’s largest city.
