New VP feels privileged to take on role again
The new vice president of the board of the Insurance Council of New Zealand (ICNZ) is
Chris Black, CEO of Farmers Mutual Group.
Black was elected following the recent resignation of
Cris Knell from his CEO position at
AIG.
Black, who has been vice president before, told
Insurance Business he felt very strongly about the ‘vital role’ ICNZ plays.
“For almost 120 years, ICNZ has fostered and promoted professionalism and high standards of service and ethical behaviour across the industry, something I feel very strongly about.
“The Council also plays a critical role in raising awareness and advocating for change on structural issues its members believe are important in the interests of ensuring the availability and affordability of insurance is not compromised – the way the NZ Fire Service is funded is one example.
“It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to make a contribution on these important issues on behalf of its members.”
The ICNZ has also welcomed two new members who have recently gained licences to operate in New Zealand –
Youi NZ Pty Ltd and
Chubb Insurance Company of Australia Ltd (New Zealand branch).
Insurer’s board resignation
IAG board member Dr Nora Scheinkestel has resigned effective 16 September 2014 due to a potential conflict of interest, according to a market notification announced yesterday.
Board chairman Brian Schwartz thanked Scheinkestel, who joined the board in July 2013, for her contribution and wished her well for the future.
